Official documents' legalization

Documents' legalization is the procedure of the official documents' validity confirmation or certification of the authenticity of state officer's signatures, empowered to sign the documents, certification of the stamps' authenticity on document.

Legalization of documents issued by official bodies of Ukraine is directed to provide possibility of the documents' circulation abroad.

There are two ways of legalization:

1) simplified procedure (stamping "apostille" by authorized government bodies or official servicer(notary, for example)) - is carried out according to the provisions of Hague Convention abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign official documents (1961);

2) consular procedure ( stamping and insignia by embassies' consular departments) is carried out according to the provisions of Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (1963).

Vienna Convention (1963) doesn't stipulate sample of such legalization stamp. In Ukraine sample of such stamp is approved by the Instruction setting order of official documents' legalization in Ukraine and abroad, approved by еру Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine order № 113 dated as of 04.06.2002
